Ask Kanga Paws

How much does a costume cost?

We’ll always try to work with whatever budget you have and a range of factors will affect the cost. Things like the materials needed, whether your costume will be used for a single event or a longer campaign, the scale of the costume, the type of use and whether it needs sophisticated mechanics will all have a bearing on cost.

We have always worked hard to ensure we’re competitive and accommodate ideas and we pride ourselves on producing costumes and props of the highest quality.

Where do you ship to?

Anywhere! We’re an intercontinental supplier having produced costumes for Europe, Asia, Australasia and North America and we’re trying for the whole set (except Antarctica, that might be pushing it).

How long does it take to make?

Again, this is dependent on a range of factors. What we will say is that we’ll always try to work within your project deadline and we can fast track a costume if you need it urgently. We do take pride in the quality of our costumes and nothing leaves the Kanga Paws production floor until we’re happy with it.

I have this wild idea…

Ha, we’ve heard that before! Honestly, you would not believe what we’ve been asked to do in the past. Some of our projects have been extraordinary with all manner of mechanics and in built animatronics. Over time we’ve found some remarkable people – experts in latex, robotics, augmented reality, app development, acrobats, contortionists, cosplay and recyclists*. The point is, we get really excited about the projects that land on us and everyone we work with feels the same so if you have an idea, don’t think it can happen, then talk to us, you might be surprised.

*someone who’s an expert in recycling stuff, we just didn’t know what to call them

What happens to old costumes?

Sadly, all costumes must reach an end. A tragic and ugly side of our business is that most are neglected, abandoned to a storeroom, basement or skip bin. It’s not a fine way to go and when we learn of yet another costume casualty we have to console ourselves with chocolate.

Fortunately this devastation is completely unnecessary. Kanga Paws has a rehabilitation and rebirthing programme specifically designed to save old costumes from such a sorrowful end. At no cost to our clients we will ship your costume back to Kanga Paws HQ, carefully reappropriate and reuse your costume. Double whammy – recycled costume and we don’t bloat on cocoa!

Are you able to produce multiples?

Absolutely, we’ve produced quantities that number into the hundreds in preparation for a major movie launch as well as multiples that have been trickle fed to franchise operations. We’re always interested in talking about what your needs are.
